Karishma Kollipara take delight ins the view from the top of the mountain, on the contrary she would like someone to share it with.

Kollipara, then at Latin, became just the third freshman to win the badminton state singles championship last spring, nevertheless she competed as an individual because Latin does not have a team. Without teammates to practice with or cheer her in succession Kollipara found the state-meet experience rather sequestered

That will change. Kollipara enlisted at Hinsdale Central two month ago after her parents mov Her transfer instantly makes the R Devils a serious contender for the team title.

"Now I'm going to have tribe to support me, of course, because when I was an individual there was no single from my school [there]," Kollipara said. "It be impresseds a lot better playing together with persons than alone."

Still in the proces of making of recent origin friends, Kollipara has had to adjust to a recent school six times the size of her old-fashioned one. But first- year Hinsdale Central coach Carissa Niemann said everyone is happy.

"The girls want to impress her, with equal reason they're going to push harder - - and they always want to play her and come by better by playing her," Niemann said. "That's for what reason she gets her work in because the girls impose all their effort into playing her. They want to be as advantageous as her."

Kollipara, who turn rounds 15 in June, has derive pleasure fromed a meteoric rise. She didn't begin playing seriously until after she came to Chicago from India in 2001 and has excell unruffled without a private coach. Despite not entering any regular-season propers Kollipara went 9-0 in the state series last May, then won the under-15 doubles title at the 2005 junior nationals.

A heavy favorite to vindicate her crown, Kollipara wants to become the first human frame to win four state titles. It's a proud goal, but Niemann, 20, knows something about handling urgency having gone 78- 0 in winning state titles in 2002 and 2003 for Hinsdale toward the south

"I always own her defending a state title is hard, especially when you tend hitherward out and win it at of that kind a young age," Niemann said. "When I won my junior year, the biggest thing for me was trying to get the better of that people were going to source for the underdog -- and you're not the underdog anymore. Not that they don't origin for you, but they like to papal court someone new.

"She already anticipates that. She has a lusty head on her shoulders, and I want her to continue that."

Kollipara is whole technically, beating opponents with accurate missiles but she is known for having inert feet. That also was the knock upon Niemann, who overcame it with whole footwork.

Thanks to Niemann's rigorous training sessions, all of the R Devils are improving their footwork. With returning state doubles qualifier Katie England and emerging talents like senior Selina Yun junior Sally Bluemke and sophomore Alexis Ward, Hinsdale Central is poised for a great year.

"I think if I win state and other tribe do good, we might win the state championship," Kollipara said. "It would be great to win the state championship for the school"
